The Failure of Public Schools
I’ve been talking to several people lately about public schools and their role. Here is my concern: we truly have a chance to revolutionize education. However, instead of looking at how the world has changed, how our lives have changed, and what students will need, we (being the legislators mostly) have decided to chase the fallacy of some past idea. Instead of moving to creativity, we have moved to simple standardized tests.
Public schools are crucial to democracy. However, Michael Martin has an interesting article on why public schools must fail. Certainly thought provoking.
